FOSTERING GOLD MINING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. A deputation representing the Mining Association waited <ou Sir Jas. Allen at Lawrence, urging assistance for the mining industry. The deputation suggested that a departmental mining engineer, or other expert, be set abroad with a. view to learning the most approved methods of treatment of alluvial materia,! in a wholesale manner-, also that information ■be gathered from all gold-producing countries regarding methods of treatment and recovery of gold, especially relating to alluvial deposits, and made available for all those engaged in goldmining.
