THE KAISER'S RESPONSIBILITY. BRITAIN MAY FOREGO INDEMNITY.' Received March 5, S.lo p.m. London, March 4. Paris telegrams state there is a sensation owing to the commission of jurists' decision that the Kaiser cannot be charged. The report is to come before the Peace Conference. It is believed possible that Britain may forego an indemnity from Germany, in view of the heavy claims by France and Belgium.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
000 MILLIONS YEARLY. FOR FIFTY YEARS. London, March 4. The Paris correspondent of the Morning Post learns that it is proposed to demand from Germany GOO million sterling for fifty years. It is estimated this will leave Germany 2SO million yearly for her internal needs.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. A FATAL ERROR. WARNING TO~SMALL NATIONS. London, March 3. Mr. Lloyd George, at the Weteh dinner, said the position of the little nations at the Paris Conference was an outstanding feature, but it was necessary to caution them of this danger. Little nations emulated the faults of the i great Empires. There was a tendency amongst the little nations to expand beyond the limits of their race and annex territories not their own. The Peace Conference will consider on Wednesday King Nicholas's protest against the decision of the Montenegrin Skupshtina in favor of the union of Montenegro with the Serbo-Slovenian State. JAPANESE OPPOSITION, New York, March 4. The New York Herald/8 Tokio correspondent states that apparently Japan will not enter the League of Nations unless race discrimination against Japan is abolished by the nations in the league. —Aus.
