AMERICAN SAILORS CAUGHT. By Telegraph—Press Association Wellington, March !>. Buring the period of her unloading here, seven members of the crew of the American ship Tonowaud were told off to keep an eye on the holds in order that pillaging might be detected. That pillaging did go on is proved by claims amounting to over £SOO which have been made against the agents for the vessel. Yesterday the police boarded the vessel and discovered articles to the value of £92 14s among the belona'ings of the men who had been appointed to supervise the unloading. At the Magistrate's Court to-day all pleaded guilty, but on the application of the police were remanded till Monday next to allow of inquiries as to what occurred on the vessel while in Auckland.
