ON THE SEA.
THE GERMAN WARSHIPS. INSISTENT FRENCH CLAIMS, Received March 4, 2.15 p.m. Paris, March 3. French papers state that Britain can afford to dispense with the warships, since the German vessels are so inferior to tho British, .but France and Italy would be glad to have them.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. Newspapers outspokenly demand that enemy warships shall replace France's old ships. The Petit Parisfen declares that if Britain insists on the destruction of enemy warships Franco mvst get a special indemnity to cover the cost of bringing the navy to its pre-war standard. Le Journal states that Britain does not need the aiiips, but France also lias a role to play on the sea, especially during the critical twenty years when tho spirit of revenge will be strongest.—United Service.
