FIRE BRIGADES.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, March 3. The fortieth annual conference of the Fire Brigades Association opened to-day. The president (W. Cooperj referred to the splendid part the llreinen had played in the war, and urged them to see that the widows and families of those who lost their lives were well provided for. The Hon. J. Hanan hoped that some better financial provision for brigades would bo established by Parliament. It was resolved that the executive committee appoint a deputation to wait on the Minister of Internal Affairs to place the financial requirements of the brigades before him. Invercargill, Last Night. The Fire Brigades Association executive was instructed to appoint a deputation to wait upo.i the Minister of Internal Affairs re more equitable distribution of the cost of maintenance.
