BISHOP AND PRIEST.
FATHER CRONIN'S VIEWS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchuro'i, Last Night. In connection with tiic notion taken by Bishop Brodie against the Kev. F. R Croniii, the latter says the bishop's procedure seems to him an abuse of power. "The important inference," said leather Croniu, "that I draw is that the bishop is as much opposed to the prohibition movement as I am to the drink traffic. My sole offence is that I have thought fit to espouse publicly what 1 am convinced is a good and righteous cause. On becoming a Catholic priest I did not sacrifice my civil lights. In working for the temperance movement I am convinced that I am doing the best possible work in which I could be engaged under present circumstances. In doing this work I am neglecting no ecclesiastical duty, and surely Bishop Brodie, who disclaims authority over me, would not question that fact.
