NATIONAL PARK BOARD.
A meeting of the National Park Board was held at New Plymouth yesterday morning when there were present Messrs U. H. Bullard, Commissioner of Crows Lands, in the chair, S. PercySmith, J. K. Hill, T. R. Anderson, W, A. Collis, J. Garcia, C. (ioodson, and R. McK. jVlorison. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs U. R. Tylee and Crump. Haw era County Council notified the appointment of A. 11. Cuy, Kaponga, as its representative on the board. Statements of receipts and expenditure showed that receipts from tolls and park fees had been as follows, up to February 28:—North, £197 17s; south, £199 lis; east, £8 8g; west, £3. The Tourist Department notified that £2OO had been allocated to the board as subsidy. A suggestion was made that an endeavor should b; made to give Stratford a larger amount, us it was understood that Stratford required additional n-ssistance in regard to roada and tracks in the vicinity. It was resolved to allocate the [amount as follows:—South £OO, North £7O, Stratford £3O, West £lO, and the board £3O. Providing the £3O is ex 1 - pended on the road, Stratford will be voted an additional £lO out of the board's funds.
Mr. Morison submitted the names of six members for the Stratford committee, which, with the four present members, would make a committee of 10. It was pointed out that the committee must bo limited to seven, and the following were elected: Messrs J. Masters, ■I. B. Kiehards, A. Patrick, Rutherford, E. H. Young, H. E. Lawrence, and 11. McK. Morison. South: Messrs C. Goodson. J. B. Crump, A. H. Guy, and P. law. AA'est: Messrs (■}. ft. Tylec, A. CTissie, W. 0. (Jreen, and H. Stonex. Xorth: Messrs AV. A. Collis, H. Bailey, 0. H. Burgess, F. Carrington, T. Avery, E. Doekrili, and A. K. Standish. The board re-allocated the sum of £-10 'for expenditure on the tracks between Dawson's Falls and Bell's Falls. The next meeting will be held at Stratford.
Mr. W. A. Collis pointed out that the grant from the Tourist Department hafl for years past been £2OO. The tourist traffic had increased enormously and so had tin- work of the board, and the grant should be increased. He moved that the Tourist Department be approached for an annual grant of £IOOO, in view of the increasing tourist trafiie and the constant drain "on the board's funds. This was seconded by Mr. Morison and carried. It was resolved to invite the Minister in charge of the Tourist Department to visit the district, and a committee consisting of Messrs W. A. Collis, C. Goodson, and T. R. Anderson were appointed to wait on the Minister.
