Iho Salvation Army bund played a programme of music for the benefit of tlic patients and staff at tlie New Plymouth Hospital yesterday afternoon, a suitable acknowledgment being tendered. The matron of the New Plymouth Hospital wishes to thank the girls of the Frdnkley Road School, through their teacher (Miss Hare), for the face and bath cloths used for the patients in the hospital. A London cable states that members of the House of Commons interested in Dominion matters have framed an Ovpiseas Parliamentary Committee, with Colonel the Hon. Sir Newton J. Moore (Agent-general for Western Australia) as chairman. Special harvest thanksgiving services were held at Whitelov Memorial Church yesterday. A meeting of those interested in the revival of the New Plymouth High School Old Boys' Association was held on Friday evening last, there being about llfteeii present. Mr P. J. White presided, and intimated that it was hoped to effect a re-union of old boys in connection with the official opening of the new school. After discussion it was resolved to call a further meeting for to-morrow night at the Soldiers' Club, with the object of placing the Association on a proper footing. There was a very large gathering rtt Kawaroa Park yesterday afternoon, when the Citizens' Band gave a most enjoyable recital. There was a full band, and while the bandsmen as a rule reach a high standard in the playing of their sacred music, yesterday they even surpassed themselves, the numbers being played in a very reverent and devotional style, with a strong coloring of temperament. An alarm of lire was received at the central station at about midnight on Saturday, the nightwatnhman at the Xow Plymouth Sash and f)oor Factory having discovered some shavings alight hear a dowelling machine.
