CORRESPONDENCE.

RECOGNISING NOBLE SERVICES. To the Editor. Sir, —As a country dweller, I should like to ask ray farmer friends what they are going to do about the peace celebrations. It appears to mo, now that the tenders for the new nurses' home has been let, that there is a very fine opening for the country people to show their tangible appreciation of the splendid way the people in the towns rose to the occasion during the late terrible experience, and made such sacrifices, and fllid so much for us. Are we going to let the matter pass by just passing votes of thanks that cost us nothing, or are we too going to rise .to the occasion also and meet them half way and accept those line sentiment so ably put by Dr Walker who, at the height of the battle said, "Never again can the town be divided from the country by misunderstandings." Therefore, I say, let us gut together and in memory of those grand sisters who so nobly laid down their lives that others might live, furnish the home or provide a recreation room or both, and prove in a practical manner our appreciation of what was done. Tlw smaller districts could form committees and decide to furnish, say, a chair or single piece of furniture, and the bigger ones the bigger things, and I know a pia.no is wanted. So lot's get going.—l am, etc., WILLIE J. FREETH. Pukearuhe, Feb. 11.
