SOCIALIST CONFERENCE.

THOMAS INTERVIEWED. THE KIND OF PEACE NEEDED. Received Feb. 10, 9.45 p.m. Berne, Feb. 6, The German delegates at the International Labor and Socialists' Conference announced that Germany and Au»-tro-Hungary were alone responsible for the war. M. Albert Thomas, interviewed, said he regretted the non-participation of the American Federation of Labor in the conference, as it would have helped towards reconstruction. We want, he said, to establish a peace treaty similar to Britain's peace with South Africa, which reconciled former enemies and made them loyal friends. An international labor charter will raise the standard of labor throughout the world and prevent the exploitation of native labor. —Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
