PROFESSOR ANDERSON. Professor Anderson was accorded another good reception on the occasion of his second appearance at the Empire Theatre last night. He again displayed his wonderful knowledge of tho science of hypnotism in such a way as to provide an evening's entertainment of a highly enjoyable character. Xlio professor's influence over his subjects is as complete as possible, and by the imposition of his will upon them they, can be made to do tho most extraordinary things, and to believe thai they see things which are nowhere visible to anyone in the building, merely at the professor's suggestion. The antics which that sort of thing may lead to can well be imagined, and the amusement caused as those young men did whatever the professor told or suggested to them was irrepressible. Not only* does this clever hypnotist entertain lit* audience, hut he proves, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that by tho wonderful powers he possesses he can make a subject absolutely oblivious of pain or hurt, and to suffer no bad af--; ter affects from the teats applied. Professor Anderson last night repeated several of the turns lie gave at tho first demonstration, as well as introduced some new acts. THR GREAT HENRI FRENCH. It is safe to say that no entertainer of such a versatile character has ever before appeared on a New Plymouth platform than Henri French, who opened a week's season at the Good Tcmplai Hall last night. The merit of the performance deserved a better audienco than that which M. French faced. From start to finish the entertainment goo* along with an easy swing, the personality of the performer putting him on the best terms with his patrons from hte lirst appearance on the platform. \\t> Chas a free and happy style and thoroughly enjoys the entertaining as miicti as the audience- M- French is practically the last word ia balancing feats and his exhibitions last night were as astonishing as they were varied. His filial and most sensational balancing teat was the whirling round of a hoop in which was placed a tumbler full of water, at tho same tfene throwing and catdiing a couple of plates in - th» air, and later riding Ms single wheel round the stage, without spilling a- drop of water from the tumbler.
