ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A WOMAN'S DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the inquest re the death of Mrs. Maria Johnston, who was found hanging in a washhouse, a verdict of suicide whilst suffering from mental depression was returned. Evidence was given to the effect that deceased was on probation from Porirua hospital arid nuffered from depression.
A YOUNG MAN SCALDED TO DEATH. Gisborne, Last Night. Eric Adams, twenty years of age, a fireman employed at the Motuhora stone quarry, was seriously injured yesterday in an engine accident and died to-day. It is stated that the engine travelling between the railway station and crusher became derailed. Adams became entangled in the canvas awning over the cab and was pinned down under the engine and scalded by the escaping steam.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
