In the Seton case Mrs Rutherford wrote to her husband in July, 1918, befo;o the letter previously cabled, saying: "Have you e-.er known m» refuse forgiveness Only come back to me. My love for you is the most vital ipaVt "f mv life."
In four later letters she complained that her husband was canity of froquent ill-usage, awful . temper, ueeepturn and unfaithfulness, adding: "I have born through hell. Olhcr liii-ii never haw V<eo» mow that an *p:«*d.e (u my life. Yon are life itself"
