TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. BAIN INTERFERES WITH PLAY.

The heavy rain during Monday night and early Tuesday morning did not make the prospects for the Ibowlui:; tournament very bright yesterday morning. The executive met and resolved not. to commence play at 9 a.m., and as conditions improved somewhat a commencement -was made at 1 p.m. with the fourth round in each section. The third round was postponed until after the ninth round has been played, in order not to interfere with the programme arrangements us to time and place of eaeh round. Naturally the greens were ud--1 versely affected by the heavy rain. Following are the results of yesterdays' play:—

citizens' Match. Owing to fhs disarrangement of the programme 011 account of weather conditions, the for receiving entries in the citizens' match has been extended to ono o'clock to-morrow (Thursday^. VISITING BOWLERS ENTERTAINED. The visiting bowlers ware entertained by the local bowhrn at a social gathering in the Kawuroa Park bungalow last night, Mr,. K. Lambie, president of the centre, being in the chair. There waa a huge attendance. After partaking of light refreshments, a short toast list was discussed, a splendid musical programme being interspersed between the speeches. Songs were contributed bv Messrs Dunstan, Hooker, McDonald, Bellringer and Flower, and recitations by Mr. Smalley. Mr. F, H. Barnitt presided at the piano.
