Inglcwood, Jan. 28. Mr. J. M. Hair, Ratapiko, has been elected unopposed to the vacancy on the Moa Road Board caused by the resignation of Mr. Reisby. Messrs Sutherland, Gibbs, Ible, and Messenger had their land agents' licenses renewed at the last sitting of the S. M. Court,

A motor car accident in which Mrs. Enhis, wife s of Mr. J. Emiia, Government overseer at Awakino, received a severe shaking which necessitated medical attention, occurred near Mr. Ted Nicholls' house last Sunday afternoon. Two cars travelling in different directions collided, and Mrs. Ennis was thrown from the car on to the road.

Messrs Bullard and Wilson, commissioners, visited this district on the 24th inst., collecting data pertaining to the county council movement, Constable Longbottom has been out visiting Ratapiko, Tarata, and Tariki on business connected with the Police Department. The Boy Scouts provincial championship athletic meeting eventuates on Thursday at the local Recreation Grounds. Arrangements are well in hand and excellent nominations have been received. Hawera, Bltham, and two troops from New Plymouth are engaged, whilst IngJewood will be represented. At the time of writing the intentions of Oputiake and Stratford are not known. The athletic events will be commenced before lunch, the finals taking place in the afternoon. The ever willing band of Inglewood lady workers will supervise the afternoon tea arrangements, which will be dispensed under the trees. A band of 15 players will arrive from New Plymouth and we are looking forward to a musical treat. Train arrangements are quite handy, and visitors can arrive from both ends of Taranaki, attend the sports, and return the game day,. Last year tho competitions were a pronounced success, and, given fine weather, to-morrow's outing should excel fbtvt of last year, Mr. Painter, chemist, has presented a camera for the best signaiie-; and this trophy and others arc- on view at C. S. List's tailoring establishment, also certificates won by various scout 3 at last year's competitions,
