At the outbreak of war the Royal Flying Corps and Naval Air Service cornprised 285 officers and 2853 other ranks. When hostilities ceased there were 30,000 officers, including 10,000 pilots, and 264,000 other ranks, including 21,000 flying cadets. At the outbreak oi war there were 100 aeroplanes, 45 seaplanes and 7 airships, and at the close there were 21,000 aeroplanes, 1300 seaplanes and 103 airships; also 2500 aeroplanes and 55,000 aeroplane engines ordered.—Aus. and N.Z.
