BRITISH IMPORTANT PAST, Ijeceived Jan. 23, 5.S p.m. London, Jan. 21 The Gazette contains a despatch from General Milne describing the important part the British played in the offensive last September against the Bulgarians between Lake Doiran and the Vardar. The British fought sanguinary battles on October 18 ar.d 19, suffering and inflicting severe losses in the assaults dominating the elaborately fortified heights and ridges at Grand Co;iro;me. The despatch incidentally _ -mentions that when news of the armistice with Turkey was received, General Milne was actually on ths river Maritm ready to occupy Adrianople, while the first Hellenic corps' wan echeloned between Kavalla and Drama ready to participate in a general advance on Constantinople. —Aus 2T.Z.
