(From Our Own Correspondent.) ITawera, Jan. J7. Mr. G. W. Taylor, chairman, presided at the monthly meeting of the Hospital Board held yesterday. The inspector reported fouT cases of diphtheria during tho month, three in the borough and one in the county, also three cases of cerebrospinal meningitis. Buildings used as temporary hospitals have been disinfected. Southland Hospital Board desired urging the Government to provide a scheme of superannuation for members of the nursing profession, on the lines of school teachers and other officials, — The board approved the suggestion. Contributions of £1 each were received with thanks from Mr. W. H. McCarthy and the Massey-I-larris Co. The matron reported that the stud was still short-handed, two vacancies remaining to be filled A letter on maternity and child welfare was received from the Minister o; Health, but consideration was deferred, the chairman remarking that it would probably come up for discussion at the conference.
