ELTHAM.
(Froin Our Own Correspondent.) ' Eltham, Jan. 17. Mr. and Mrs. R. Scrivener, well and favorably known in Eltham, where Mr.. Scrivener has been in business and also farming for several years, left again for, the north by the mail train this morning, having spent a short stay here. Mr. J. (J. Lording iel't for Wellington [his morning for a holiday. He is a Victorian, hungry to seo a game of cricket, and hopes to witness the WellingtonCanterbury shield match. Last week I noticed Mr. J. Dixon in town. It is a few years since Mr. Dixon retired .from business here and took up farming pursuits in the Manawatu. He is now residing in Wellington, a familiar spot to him, seeing in the years gone by he was a well-knt'wn cricketer and kept "stumps" with tie best for many seasons.
