DOMINION NEWS.

DAMAGED CABLES CAUSE BLOCK. E/ Tclijriph.—Press AsssciatSoa. Wellington, Jan. 15. The Eastern Extension. Cable Company lias lost the use of three cables somewhere in the Bay of Biscay. Repairing ships are waiting, but rough weather prevents their working. These cables are old, and probably much worn, and it is thought likely that depth charges dropped on submarines have assisted to shatter them. In consequence, there is a block, and all work is diverted to the Pacific route, which reports that considerable delay must be expected.
