PROPOSED TARANAKI VISIT In connection with the proposal that the French Mission should >b® invited to visit Taranaki, on Saturday morning, Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., telegraphed the Acting-Prime Minister aa follows: 1 "This great and historical province should not have been omitted from original itinerary of distinguished French Mission. Prese Association reports s,s. Niagara delayed, thus giving opportunity to rectify omission. New Plymouth Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the citizens, desire me to ask you to convey heartiest Invitation to Mission to visit this district. Would be glad of your assistance in urging acceptance of samu-" Yesterday, Mr. Smith received the fol' lowing reply from Sir James Allen:— "Your telegram in regard to French Mission received- I very much regret that, in view of limited time, it was not possible to include Taranaki in original itinerary. Your telegram has been submitted to General Pau, Ibut ha la, unfortunately, laid up at present, and will, not be able to fulfil even his present engagements. If possible, one member will visit Taranaki, and I will later if this arrangement possible "
