SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
SPECIAL ALLOWANCES; (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Jan. 8. During the last session Parliament authorised the payment of additional sums by way of incidental allowance to Bchool committees. The amount of the supplementary allowances has now been fixed. Tho following table bliows tlie amount of tho extra payment at various grades: Average Annual attendance Grant. I—B . 3s per head. o—2o -v.....-.-.-.,... £3 10s Od 21—35 £5 0s Od 30-80 .vr. £6 0s od 81—120 , £7 10s Od 121—160 .. .v..—- r , £9 0s Od 161—200 ....:..y-y. £9 0s Od The amounts continue to rise on the same scale, the maximum, for a school of 650 children and upwards, being £33.
