NEW BASE AT ETUME.
Beceived Jan. XI, 6.5 p.m. Amsterdam, Jan. 10. The situation in the Balkans is difficult owing to serious food shortage along the whole Adriatic coast and interior of Austria. Food has already been sent to Vienna under armed guard. The exact determination of the various spheres of occupation by the new nationalities in the Balkans caused some friction, but is now settling down, the Allies having successfully adopted the principle of occupying the disputed localities with troop 3 of disintereseed nations. Counter-measures are being taken t.i resume railway comf uvcations in order to relieve the economic situation.
A tone for the Near Eastern railway has been opened at Fiume, and we are sending tupplies to Belgrade by this route.
The Allied troops which were occupyinp the Dobrudja pending the final disposal of the Bulgarian administration withdrew without disorder.—Aua. Nil Cable Assoc.
