EXCELLENT NOMINATIONS.

Splendid nominations were received by the secretary of the Taranaki Jockey Club for tiie various events to be decided at the autumn meeting to be held on February 5 and 0. Both in quality and in numbers the nominations are well ahead of last year. The Cup has drawn 22, as compared with 15 last year, including some of the best handicap horses. The sprint events have drawn select crowds. The hurdles are rather disappointing. The inclusion of the juvenile event was fully justified, no less than 22 having nominated, and as a number of them are engaged in the Fifth Taranaki Stakes, in which 29 remain after the payment of the second forfeit, good fields should be ensured for both events. The minor events have all filled well. Following are the nominations:
