LABOR'S GREETINGS TO FRENCH WOEiKERS.
Sydney, Jan. 10. The Labor Council, after an address l>y M. Thomson, one of the Lwbor members of the French Mission, who was frequently interrupted because of lis antagonism to the Bolsheviks, carried a motion sending a fraternal greeting to the workers of France and all other countries, and realising that the calumnies hurled at Bolsheviks emanate from the enemies of tho working class. The resolution expresses tho hope that those fighting for freedom will triumph over foul monarchs and militarism and all tlieir supporters. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assoa THE SHIPPING TROUBLE.
Sydney, Jan. 9. There was no development in the shipping trouble to-day, except that the Union Company announced that the crew of the Waikawa would be compensated for the loss of personal effects when the steamer was torpedoed. Trouble is anticipated in securing a crew for the Ihumata, due to sail for New Zealand, via Newcastle. Sydney, Jan. 10.
A Union Company official states that although nothing definite has been received from the New Zealand office, it is probable the company will offer the men the insurance demanded, and also pay the full wages of any members of a crew contracting influenza. MINERS DEMAND HIGHER WAGES. ' Sydney, Jan. 0. Unrest prevails in the Northern collieries, where the Miners' Federation is pressing for an advance of 25 per cent on the present rates, which owners aro disinclined to concede.—Aus.-N.Z.
