ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Eltham, Jan. 8,

A very pretty wedding ,was solemnised at the residence of the bride's parents this morning when Elsie Commerer, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Commerer, was united in marriage to Mr. Cyril Coles, Ensign Sawyer officiating. The bride was given away by her father, whilst the bridesmaids were Misses Parker (cousin) and A. Commerer, the best man being the bride's brother. The bride wore a very handsome dress, and carried the usual bouquet. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a watch, and to the. bridesmaids, a ring and bangle with chain. At the close of the ceremony the contracting couple interviewed the photographer, and then adjourned for the wedding breakfast, which was partaken of by their immediate friends. Toasts of "The Bride and Groom," "The Parents of the Bride," and "The Ladies" were honored. In the afternoon the happy couple left for Wangnnui, carrying with them the best of good wishes"for their future. The bridegroom is a returned soldier who was invalided liome after spending a considerable time at the front. The bride's parents are old residents of Eltham, and much esteemed.

Evidently farmers are anxious to get their grass cut and v slacked, as today there appeared to be few farmers in town, although Wednesday is the usual market day. From now on till another five weeks the man on the land will need all the sunshine he can get to overtake his work, although probably many will find time to attend the A. and P. shows, etc.
