ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
Eltham, Jan. 7,
This morning I had the pleasure of seeing Constable Townsend, and found him looking exceedingly well. Our policeman has had a very trying experience, his bout with the influenza fiend becoming almost a fatality. However, after causing his relatives, considerable anxiety he successfully weathered the crisis, and now it is only a matter of time before he is out and about.
Mr. E, Patten is -also slowly mending, and thus we are proud to have still in our midst two citizens who four weeks earlier were dangerously ill. Mr. W. Freeman, registrar of electors, informs me that the main roll has been closed. Those who desire to vote at the April licensing election sho'ald not hesitate to ascertain whether their names are on the roll.
The Egroont Box Company's factory is just now a liive of industry. This company in the years past lias proved a valuable asset to Eltham, employing many hands. The pay sheet is hardly as formidable as 8 or 10 years ago, but nevertheless is very acceptable to the townspeople.
