ADDINGTON MARKET,

Cliristehurch, Jan. 3. At the Addington market there was a moderate yarding of all classes of stock owing to the sale having to be held so late in the week. Fat cattle showed no change for prime quality, but medium and inferior were easier, a little business being done in cows for export. Fat lambs dropped 3s and 4s per head on the market rate before the holidays, and graziers were able to secure a few pens, but exports did not operate. Fat sheep declined about 2s fid per head on the average, prime heavy wethers maintaining their values best A little business was done for export at about 6d per lb over all for wethers, and 5Jd for ewes. Graziers also operated freely in unfinished" lines. It was a dull sale for store cattle, and fat pigs sold proportionally better than stores. Prices:— Store sheep: 4 and 6-tooth ewes, 335; '2-tooth wethers, 21s (Id to 255; 4-tooth wethers, 2Ss; 4 and 6-tooth wethers, 26s to 325; 4, 6, and 8-tooth wethers, 20s lid to 26s Id. Fat lambs: Extra prime lambs, 30s 6d: prime, 25s to 28s; medium 23s to 24s 81; lighter, 21s 6d to 22s 6d. Fat sheep: Woolly wethers, 40s; extra prime shorn wethers, to 30s 6d; prime wethers, 3"2s fid to 36s 6d; medium wethers, 29s to 325; lighter wethers, 26s 8d to SQs; extra prime shorn ewes, to 345; prime ewes, 29s Cd to 325; medium ewes, 27s to 295; lighter ewes, 24s to 26s 6d. Fat cattle: Extra prime steers, to £25; prime steers, £l7 to £2l 12s 6d; ordinary steers, £ls 12s Cd to £l6 17s 6d: prime heifers, £ll 5s to £ls; prime cows, £l2 10s to £ls; ordinary cows, £9 15s to £l2. Store cattle: Yearling steers,. £ 5 Ss fid; 3. and 4-year steers, £l3 10s; 3-year steers, to £l2 15s; 3year heifers, to £lO Is; cows in calf, £10; dairy cows, £7 10s to £lB 10s Pigs: Ohoppsrs, £5 to £6 10s; heavy baconers £7 to £7 14s 6d; lighter bnconers, £5 15s to £6 10s (equal to 9Jd to 91d per lb); heavy porkers, £3 10s to £4; lighter porkers. £2 15s to £3 5s (equal to 10% d lb); medium stores, 60s to 58s; smaller stores, 42s to 495; weaners, 12s fid to 245; breeding sows, to £6 ss.
