ALLEGED TREATIES. BETWEEN ENGLAND, FRANCE AND RUSSIA. ' New York, Jan. 3. The Paris correspondent of the N«w York Times interviewed a high authority regarding the secret treaties to which M. Pichon referred recently. The authority, said that the treaties were drawn up between England and Prance in 191 C, and England,' France and Russia in 1917By the terms of the Franco-British treaty France controls Syria, Lebanon and part of Armenia, while England controls Mesopotamia. Arabia is to be an independent Kingdom and Palestine is to have an international administration. All portions of Asia. Minor covered in the treaty now belonging to Turkey will be taken from Turkey. The exact boundarie.s of Turkey will lie defined at the Peace Conference. The peoples of Lebanon, Syria, Armenia, and Mesopotamia will be allowed to choose their own form of government, France and England being merely advisers to the Governments in their respective spheres of control. France does not' propose to dominate or assume protectorates over these peoples.
The 1917 treaties are invalid bo far as Russia is. concerned- The terms pertaining to England and France remain valid. They deal with Asia Mittor. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.

DISPOSAL OF GERMAN WARSHIPS

Mr Baker, addressing the House Military Committee, said the Governmentdid not intend, until the Peace Conference ended, to decide on the extent of military establishments in the United States- It was not intended to main'tain forces in Europe for two years. So arrangements had been made for universal military service. v
Rear-Admiral Redman recommended the House Naval Committee to advocate the destruction of the capital ships of the German Navy—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
