j;-: CAVALRY'S BRILLIANT ] ACHIEVEMENTS. TRIBUTE TO AUSTRALIANS AND 1 , NEW ZEALANDEBS. . . | ■ Rec. Dec. 31, 10-5 p.m. London, Dec. 30. General Allenby's despatch refers to the brilliant aeb' eve >nents of tho cavalry and says that Australian and- New Zealand mounted divisions by entering the pursuit threw the fourth' Turkish army into' a state of disorganisation, and intercepted the garrison at Maan, which compelled it to surrender. General Chaytor's force took ten thousand prisoners in the Valley of the Jordan. The Royal Aair Force and the Australian flying corps did brilliant work, not only during the actual operations, but during the preceding months. The process of wearing down the enemy's strength in the air was continuous throughout the summer. Our ascendancy was so marked towards the end of August that only a few of the enemy's aeroplanes were able to fly. As a result the strength of the air force could be concentrated on the retreating enemy. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. and Reuter
