DEATH OF A WOMAN.
SON ACCUSED, OE MANSLAUGHTER. Wellington, Wednesday. The sequel to the death on Monday of 'an elderly woman named Mrs, Grace Albraclit was the arrest.,of liejr ifiarried son,' Thomas . Albrecht; 1 ' on Clifistnias Eve, on a charge of manslaughter. Mrs. Albrecht-resided with,-her husband and other members of the'family at 87 Wright Street. About Q p.m. on December 4 -the- son Thomas, who is a driver in the employ of ji local brewery, and lives in 5 Howard istreet, went to his. mother's home for tea. It' is alleged that he'was under the influence of liquor at the time, and that ho raised some complaint regarding the food which was placed before him. Some words are stated to have passed, and a squabble took place, dtirjfig wliieh, it-'is alleged, the accused struck his mother, a woman of 60 years, about the head and body. Mrs. Albrecht fell down, and it being, discovered that she was injured ip some way. Dr. Perkins was sent for. ,He attended to the deceased, and at once sent her to the hospital, where "she died at 2 o'clock on Monday afternoon. Albrecht, who is So years of age, was arrested by Sergeant Butler.
