ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE EMPIRE. THE MOTION PICTURE SENSATION, "BABBLING TONGUES," TO-NIGHT. At the Empire to-night, at a special matineo to-morrow afternoon, and finally to-morrow night, there will he screened as the prtnicipal item a picture which is said to show in vivid detail the terrible effect that scandal can have on the lives of perfectly innocent people. The title of this picture is "Babbling Tongues." The story it unfolds is of intense dramatic power, full of love interest and tragic in the immensity of its theme. No audience, it is said, can watch unmoved the tale of good names torn to tatters, of lives ruined by the evil influence of scandal, which starts in a small way from sly glances, nodding heads, and secret nudges. The eternal triangle—a man, his wife, and the other man —forms the basis of the story No three more honorable characters ever lived, and yet, such is the power of babbling tongne3 and eyesth;>t eee evil where there is no evil, that ere long the lives of all three are totally wrecked. The climax of the story, which is reached by a series of powerful situations, is. of extraordinary force and bewildering in its originality. The east of characters is particularly strong. James Morrison and Grace Valentine fill the leading roles, and they are supported by Arthur Donaldson, Paul Capellani, Gladen James, and Louiie Baudet and several other talented artists. "Babbling Tongues" has received very favorable criticism wherever it has been shown.

MATINEE TO-MORROW. The special "Babbling Tongues" matinee to-morrow afternoon will commence at 2.30. Children will be admitted for threepence and adults at Is and Is Cd. EVERYBODY'S. MADGE EVANS IN "WANTED, A MOTHER." Little Eileen altered her father's advertisement from "Wanted, a Governess," to "Wanted, a Mother; must have pretty smile and be fond of fairy tales and candy" The story is aptly named, "Wanted, a Mother," and is produced by the World Film Company, with little Madge Evans as Eileen, and it was little wonder that the picture delighted Saturday's audience at Everybody's. The same film shows again tonight, at a special matinee to-morrow afternoon, and Anally to-morrow night.

DANCING RECITAL. The full programme of fhe dance recital, to be given, at the Good Templar Hall on Thursday and Friday nights, which appears in to-day's issue, fully justifies what -has already been raid as to the excellence of the entertainment that has been arranged. Dances of the character of those that will he presented are a. distinctly new feature so far as local entertainments arc concerned, and should prove an attractive and agreeable change from the orthodox concert programme. The dressing of the dances and the color and decoration effects will in themselves be a revelation of loveliness. The daintiest of costumes have been specially designed for this presentation, and the floral effects, together with lighting arrangements, will be perfectly charming. The wealth of dressing, combined with the skill of Miss Bedford's pupil dancers, must result in the production of an entertainment of a high order, and that will be brimful of enjoyment for patrons. The assisting artists will be Miss Leatham (planiste), Mrs. Birch-Johnston (character comedienne), and Mr. Crawford, Wellington (comedian and eccentric dancer). The whole of the accompaniments will be played by Miss E. Bennett, L.A.8., A.T.C.U Tickets are 2s, and the plan is at Collier's, where seats may be reserved for 6d extra.
