STRATFORD.

{Prom Our Own Correspondent.) UU cMunuUtttiau. letters, etc., left irltl «■«■». iwklu. kuknUw, will renin prompt ittntloa.] Stratford, Dec. 2. Cold, wintry weather, with a strong breeze, made matters decidedly unpleasant for visitors to town, who, however, made light of the high winds. Trade appeared to be very good, and tradesmen report that business is steadily improving, though naturally very slow, considering the time of the year, Stratford Racing Club are holding a special meeting on Monday evening. An accident occurred at the Cardiff Dairy Factory yesterday afternoon. Whilst on a ladder, it slipped and threw the manager, Mr D. Cameron, heavily tt the concrete floor.' He was badly bruised and had three ribs fractured. An accident occurred near Waipnku this morning. A motor-lorry conveying cream from Tariki Road, while proceeding south, was run into by the D.20 a.m. train going north. The engine struck the lorry a severe blow, and threw the driver, Lepper, a considerable distance. He was picked up and brought into the Stratford hospital, and on making inquiry this evening Dr. Steven stated that the man was severely bruised and shaken, but, apart from that, was doing well. Special attractions, have been made for the public patronising Ngaere Gardens on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. On both these days patrons can make the journey by train, whilst a motor-bus will also be available to convey passengers from Stratford* to and from the grounds.

Usually getting in early means getting the best. This does not apply to the great Christmas Fair now commencing in the premises of C. E. .Tames. The shelves are crowded with innumerable articles that will appeal to all fancies and fit all pockets. Mr. James has been very fortunate in securing some novelties that will appeal to young and old. There is no need to pass his shop in looking for that Christmas gift. Personal inspection is invited, and there Bhould be no difficulty in pleasing all. During the next fortnight Mr James expects to be very busy, so take heed and shop early.—Advt.
