INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
THE WORLD'S DEATH ROLL. SIX MILLION PEOPLE DIE. Received Dec. 19, 11.45 p.m. London, Dec. 18. The Times medical correspondent believes that six million people died from influenza and pneumonia during the last twelve weeks. The plague, therefore, is live times more deadly than the war. Never since the Black Death had such a plague swept the world. India lost three millions. No medical authority was certain, nor had any conclusion yet been reached, as to the exact nature of the ■disease. Possibly the organism involved war? still undiscovered. Indications were that infection occurred by eontact, and not through the air.—Reuter.
