SOUTH AFRICA.

THE WOOL CLIP. NOT WANTED BY IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT. OFFER TO TAKE A PORTION. Received Dec. 19, 7.40 p.m. Capetown, Dec. 17. In connection with the negotiations for the purchase of the South African wool clip, the Imperial Government states that the Army Council is no longer interested in securing wool. It is prepared, however, to take 150,000 bales as the result of a strong desire to place South Africa in an equally favorable position to the other Dominions. If this offer is not acceptable the Imperial Government prefers to witndraw the negotiations, which are now quite superfluous from a military standpoint. —Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. and Reuter.
