REMOVAL OF RESTRCTIONS SOUGHT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchureh, Dec. _ 19. A deputation representing the picture proprietors waited on the Hon. Russell regarding the new law restricting the hours. It was stated that the proprietors and employees were vitally affected. They did not ask to alter the restriction's already, but expressed the hope that they would be modified later under the new law. Few theatres in New Zealand were paying their way, The Minister said the laws had been made to cover cases where conditions were bad. The restrictions were carefully censored, and expert advice showed the law was for the good of the country. If it were found that it goes too far, doubtless it would Be modified next session in the direction of allowing the health officer in eacli centre of license/1 theatres to order the buildings adapted for the purpose to be continued.
