The Defence officials kept in touch with the health officers, so as to take up their work of discharging non-infected men a& goon aa possible, and it was arranged, «if the patients could be isolated and contacts dealt with, that Base Records staff would go oat in the evening and work all night to enable the men for distant parts to cntcli the morning trains! This could not be \done, but as. there was a possibility of the quarantine being lifted in the morning, it was decided to have the staff readv for work on Thursday at 7 a.m Probably this would permit of the vessel berthitiff during Thttraday after-* noon This delay was quite unexpected, as a few days ago a wireless message from the ship stated there were no infectious diseases aboard. , BASE RECORDS.
