EPIDEMIC PRECAUTIOUS. Received Deo. 13, 9-30 p.m. Sydney, Dec. 13: Arrived, Masura and Atua, from Auckland, both being quarantined. There were eleven cases aboard the Makura, but none on the Atua. The position at the quarantine is highly favorable. No deaths took placj this week, and no new cases were reported, while only 52 are in hospital, FIGHTING THE HOOKWORM. Melbourne, Dec. 13. The Government is devoting £35,000 to combat the hookworm disease in Queensland. MR. JENSEN KESIGNB. Melbourne, Dec- 13. It is understood that Mr. Jensen has agreed to withdraw his refusal to resign upon learning that Cabinet would not resign if he persisted. COST OF MAmTAXING TROOPS ABROAD. It was further resolved that the time was opportune for the entire abolition of armaments and conscription.
