At the Peninsular and Oriental Company's meeting Lord Inchcape said the liabilities of £5,822,563 included a considerable gum to meet the increased cost of building. The company would, as speedily as possible, resume tlieir position in the Eastern, Par-Eastern and Australian trades, but with so many ships sunk it would be some time before it would be able to oiler the travelling public the convenience, comfort and regularity to which they were accustomed before the war.—Aus. and N.Z.
