A serious lire occurred early this morning in the premises o£ tile Mew Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, a three-storey block. The top floors, used as boot, tailoring, and furnishing departments, were completely de■4n>yecl, while the ground lloor, containing grain and merchandise, was swamped ami the contents rendered practically useless. The saddlery was also damaged l>v water.
The insurances on the whole of the association's property are £151,000, and ill the suited urea £13,400, in the South British office, but re-insured in twenty other offices.
