Mr. G. D. Greenwood's champion, Biplane, was brought back from Australia by a recent steamer, and lias beeu sent to his owner's station in North Canterbury. lie will bo given a good spell, after which he will probably be put into training again.
Auckland appears to be full of horses belonging to other parts. Owing to the epidemic, they and their attendants have been unable to get home.
The Auckland sportsman, Mr- T- B. C'ato', who raced The Channel under the iiont de course of Mr. Victor, died of inllucnza.
The death occurred at Dannevirke on Wednesday of Harry- Watson, the wellknown Dannevirke jockey, eldest son of Mr. W. A. Watson, storekeeper, of Mamifttern. The deceased travelled from the New. Zealand Cup meeting at Riecarlon on the same ferry steamer as the late \h\ W. IT. Hartgfll, and it is presumed that, he contracted influenza, on the passu sre' across. Tie arrived in Dannevirke siitTcrtng from the complaint, and although everything was done for him,-he was unable to shake off -his growing weakness. The late Harry Watson was well known at Hastings, where he was for 12 -years attached, to the Hon. J. D. Ormond's stable .at Karamn. The deceased was a single man, 20 years of
