CONGRATULATIONS BY RULING
CHIEFS.
TROOPS TO BE ENTERTAINED.

Delhi, Nov. 27. To-day was proclaimed a public holiday. Enthusiastic victory celebrations were held in India, and ih&y will continue in certain localities till the 30th. The festivities include parades, processions, military sports, illuminations, fireworks, gifts of food and clothing to the poor, and entertainments for •the wounded.
Practically every ruling chief in India has telegraphed to the Viceroy his congratulations on the Allies' victory. a'o imported from Kabul, many parts of the north-west frontier, and Persian Gulf.
Several Himalayan districts dispkyed beacons on the hilltops. All the prisoners returning from Turkey, and tlie troops from the fields of war will be entertained at the ports of arrival in India.—Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter.
