(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Nov. 2<5. It is only natural that the epidemic should create a lot of disorganisation in the work of dairy factories. Mr. F, J. McDonald, of the Stratford Dairy Co., lias been a manager in every sense of the word as he has managed to keep the main and other factories of the company going continuously. Other similar concerns have generally managed to keep the flag flying with a little assistance, but there are a few that appear to have collapsed. On Sunday, Arthur Cooper, manager of the Mahoe Factory, rubbed his eyes to make sure he was not seeing double, but was assured all things were right when he found 12 suppliers from Rowan had bached in their carts and cans to save the milk going to the pigs or tiie creek owing to the Rowan Factory lacking the necessary hands to carry on. The next morning he found he was not dreaming and that his milk supply had gone up 100 per cent., and, making inquiries, ascertained his 12 Rowan suppliers had increased to 18, and to give good measure, and extra work, 10 Kaponga dairymen Bent their waggons to Mahoe, where the perspiring workers, with a "Let 'em all come" attitude, got into the collar, and as a result the day's tally was 05 cheeses against the usual 30. This meant a saving of £ 000 to the suppliers, but to lessen the strain on the workers and machinery, the Mangatoki Dairy Co. has agreed to help to tide the neighboring factories over their difficulties. The wisdom of the Mangatoki directors in providing ! imple vats for the expansion of their business at Mahoe proved a blessing to Rowan and Kaponga. Last summer the Stratford Gun Clu'b | bad several "shoots" £hat attracted keen : competition, hut I am sorry to say | future meetings will miss a few familiar | faces Three well-known members of the club—J. A. Wheeler, F. Collins, and ! A. Scott—have fallen victims to the I influenza epidemic, and in these men the club have lost members who took a keen interest in the welfare of the club and will be hard to replace. On page 1, the Stratford Borough Council advevtise for a certificated traction engine driver. "Owing to the shortage of staff, we are unable to provide meals for the travelling public," is a notice appearing outside one of the hotels to-day. Licensed premises appear to be very hard hit by the prevailing epidemic.

With the downfall of Germany th# world-wide strife now comes to an end. There are other things to occupy the minds now, and the near advent of Christmas makes one conjure up visions of Gifts and Presents. Your opportunity is now to visit Mr. C. E. James' fine Jewellery and Fancy Goods Warehouse and note the great values and varieties he is offering in seasonable lines.—Advt.
