MOTHER COUNTRY.

THE MEAT TRUST. A SERIOUS DANGER. London, Nov. 14. In the House of Commons debate on the vote of credit, tlhe Hon. W. Astor. Secretary of the Pood Ministry, said that the danger of the American Meat Trust was far more serious than was realised. It was a danger to all importing countries. It had branches in the Argentine, Australia, and New Zealand, and controlled 50 per cent, of the available importable world's supplies of meat. There was going to be a real meat shortage in Europe, and he believed the inter-Allied Food Council would be stronger than the meat trust end be able to dictate to it.—Reuter.
