Mr. W. E. Wright, chainnsta of tl» " ' j Egmont County Council, is at present ' confined to his home with influenza. The Rev. C- Conner, who has been temporarily filling the pulpit of the Qpiin&ke Presbyterian Church, had to leave hurriedly on Monday for Napier, his son having died .in tae Napier hospital of influenza on Sunday evening. Owing to being recalled on urgent business, Dr. Averill, Bishop of Auckland, left for the north by the Rarawa today, and in consequence all his Taranaki engagements have been cancelled for the time iieing. Mr. H. Hopkins, of Rahotu, has received advice that his eon, Private J. J. Hopkins, who lias been at the front for the past 12 months, has been missing since October 12. Another don, LanceCorporal George Hopkins, was wounded on October 30. Two other sons, Private Henry Hopkins and Private Ned Hopkins, are in hospital in England. The latter will be shortly returning home.
