MOTOR FATALITY.
„„i.ii» ■g>* - I YOUm MAN KEiLBD. 2T" motor accident occurred in New Plymouth yesterday afternoon, resulting in the deah of a young man named Arthur Alexander Smith, aged 20, a visitor to the town. Deceased, who was a shopman employed in Ma'sterton, had arrived that morning from Auckland on holiday, and' was staying at the Criterion Hotel. It appears that, with a numbfer of others, including some ladies, he was riding on the "Tank," driven by Mr. RGredig along St. Aubyn Street, and when near the tram loop at Morshead'a Nursery one of the front tyres of the car on which the tank was erected, punctured, and caused the car to wobble, overbalancing several of the passengers, who fell Against the woodwork of which the tank was constructed. This collapsed, and they fell on to the road. All save deceased escaped with bruises and a shaking, and weTe able to proceed to their homes. ©eceaßed, who had fallen on his head, was taken to the hospital, where he died within half an hour of his admission. parents are well-known farmers of Bunnythorpe.
