PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
FUBTHER DETAILS OF LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS. ' , A meeting of the Citizens' Committee for the control of peace demonstrations was held at the Soldiers' Club yesterday morning, Mr. J. W. Hayden presiding. The Mayoress reported that 4000 souvenirs had been prepared for the school children, which would be presented to those taking_part in .the procession (from ■Standard IJ. upwards) before tlio procession started. The younger children will receive their souvenirs at the park. So as to obviate the necessity for crossing the procession, it has oeen arranged that children traversing the east side of Liardet Street shall receive their souvenirs at the small gate on the side of the main entrance to the Parle, and those using the west side of Liardet Street at the small gate at the side of the main entrance in Gilbert Street. Hot water and milk will be available free on the grounds fpi; those requiring it, but there will Ibe'no provisions obtainable at the Part.
The procession will move o(T at 1.50, and not 1 o'clock as previously arranged. 'Messrs 0. E; Bellringer, F. W. G. McLeod, Sole, a»d H. A. Stratford wore a grounds committee. No adult will be allowed on tho sports ground until the children have been marshalled. The order of proceedings at the grounds will be:— Band plays the National Anthem and the Eoyal Salute. Children salute the flag. Archdeacon Evans offer a prayer of thanksgiving. The Mayor will address ilia assembly, also a member of„ the Ministers' Association, and Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P.
Doxology. Afterwards each child will be presented with a bag of Jollies. The committee have arranged that if the news of peace is received in the morning the first procession will take place the same day.'and the hig gatherinw on the day following, but if the news is not received till afternoon then all the arraagemeiits will he put back a dav.
To avoid congestion at the Park entrance, those not taking part in the procession are requested 'to enter by the Oiluert Straet gates or by the gates at the east side of tne sports ground. All units of the procession should ha formed up In the streets as previously mentioned at 12.45 pm. Late arrivals wil! have to forfeit their places and fall in at the end of the procession.
