DUNEDIN TRAMWAY DISPUTE By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the resumed conference over the trumwaymen's dispute, the representatives of the hill companies said they could not suppport the offer from the City Corporation of a 22 per cent, increase of wages, since the companies had no power to increase the fares. The workers replied that they would be pleased to enter into an agreement with the City Council, but felt that to do so would mean sacrificing the hill company employees. A deadlock thus arose, and 'the matter stands referred to the Disputes' Committee, to be convened by Mr. Browett, local head of the Labor Department. Both parties intimated they would iba pleased to have Mr. Bartholomew, S.M-.as chairman of the Dispute*' Committee if it could be arranged.
