INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)' _ Private Ken. a. Henery, who lost his right arm at Passehendaele Ridge on October 4th, 1917, returned home to Inglewood last Thursday evening. Ken was a student at the"Oatlauds Park school for N.Z. limbless soldiers for nine months wid whilst there assimilated knowledge that will equip him for future work. His brother, Sergeant Henery, also saw fighting in France, being invalided home some months ago. Mr. C. Hamerton, who has purchased a farm in the Waikato district, is visiting Inglewood. Private V. H. Amyes, Kaimata, who has received his discharge from camp returned home a few days ago. A lad named Jack Gomless, son of Mr and Mrs Abel Gomless, was knocked down by a horse to-day. The little chap received medical attention, and, beyond a few bruises and a severe shaking, he suffered no serious injury. A well-attended meeting was held in the Town Hall on Monday evening t'o make arrangements for Peace .Day celebrations. The Mayor (Mr. G. Young) presided: The following committee, with power to add to their'number, was set ap:—His Worship the Mayor, Messrs J Winfleld. G. Ireland, Eev. I<\ Harvie, A. Corkill, I). Evans, B. Buckley, J. Sutherland, and P. Preo. At a subsequent meeting it was decided to ask tho ladies to assist in the arrangements. Mr. W. Humphry was appointed marshal for the day. Various sub-committees were set up. The advent of peace will be heralded by a long ring of the firebell, and, providing the nsw readies here before noon, the programme would be carried out that day, a thanksgiving servioe being held at the nearest hour after the. sounding of the bell. A procession will be formed, followed bv a grand pienie at the recreation grounds. In the event of the glad news reaching here late m the afternooon, the nroceedings will bo carried out the day following. Miss Trimble's meteorological report states that the total rainfall at "Riversdale," Inplewood, for October, 191s, was 12.43; number of days on which rain fell 23; heaviest falls, 1.-22 on the Ist, 2.03 ori the 4th, 1.10 on the 14th, and 2.40 oh thp 21st.
