THE EMPIRE, LAST NIGHT OF OLIVE THOMAS IN "HEIRESS FOR A DAY." Captivating little Olive Thomas is tho central figure of' the Triangle feature "Heiress for a Day" tyeing screened at The Empire for the last time to-njght, and she should prove to be a sure magnet. No one havrsg once eeen her would care to miss a picture in which this piquant star appears. As Helen Tliurston she is canicurist at a fashionable hotel, and she falls in love with Standrmg, a very wealthy young man, She laments tho fact that his world is not her world and envies the dazzling creatures who are his friends. Standring, however, has a great liking for her. Then news arrives that she has inherited a fortune, and she straightways discards the sweet simplicity which has charmed him and tries to emulate the false ways of his social equals* with the result that he begins to ditlike her heartily. The ftory has much humor, but there are some very touching scenes, especially when it appears that the fortune she inherited was «, false report, and she is assailed IrV horde 3 of alarnjcd creditors. Olive wa3 never more faa-cinat'-g, and the picture will enhance her reputation greatly, provided it has not already reached such proportions that there is no room for enhancing. CITIZENS' BAND BENEFIT. AT THE EMPIRE THEATRE TO-' MORROW, A benefit performance in. aid of the building fund of the N|ew Plymouth Citizens' Band is being held at The Empire Theatre to-morrow evening. An especially attractive programme of pictures has been secured for this night only, headed by the Pathe "Gold Rooster" special "Under False Colors," a strangely interesting and fascinating story that deals with the escape from her own country of a Russian Countess ind her sensational adventures in America, the land of her adoption. Jeanne Eagles and Frederick Warde are the 'cading performers in this thrilling dramatic feature. The picture prosramr.ie will be interspersed by vocal items by leading local amateurs. EVERYBODY'S. MARCARTTA FISCHER TN "MISS JACKY OF THE ARMY." The chief attraction at Everybody's tp-night and to-morrow will he the appearance of Margarita Fischer in the Mutual do luxe comedy-drama feature "Miss Jacky of the Arniy," a companion ?tory to "Jacky of the Navy" screened at this theatre a few weeks hack. The previous "Jacky" picture proved one of the most popular screened in New Plymouth for many months, and "Jacky of the Army" has been accepted iby the film critics as equally good, and if anything even more humorous than the ifir.-it picture. The supporting picture's include one of the famous Fox comedy features "His Final Blowout" with Hank Mann as the fun maker, and it is quite a hurricane of fun and hair-rais-ing happenings. There is also a fine scenic film "Abbeys of England" on the programme. i
